Zwei Bier, Bitte! It’s Time for the La Mesa Oktoberfest!
No German needed when you order your beers at the Lowenbrau beer garden, but the om-pah-pah music and scent of grilled bratwurst might just make you feel like you’re in the middle of Munich at the 40th annual La Mesa Oktoberfest. The La Mesa Oktoberfest is the largest Oktoberfest event west of the Mississippi, and for 3 days you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy one of the county’s biggest block parties.
Beginning on Friday, October 4th and running through Sunday the 6th come rub shoulders with 200,000 of your neighbors and enjoy 400 food, craft and art vendors and plenty of great live music on the beer garden stage. The event covers 7 city blocks in downtown La Mesa that are closed to traffic. Center of the event is roughly the corner of La Mesa Blvd and Spring St with the beer garden and stage set-up in the city parking lot on Allison St. Parking is a nightmare, so taking the trolley is recommended. Take the Orange line to Spring St. station and you’ll be right at the event.
The 2013 La Mesa Oktoberfest hours are:
Friday, 10/4 and Saturday, 10/5, 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Sunday, 10/6, 12:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
There are activities for the entire family and admission is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older to enter the beer garden.
Once you enjoy the La Mesa Oktoberfest, you might just want to check-out some great homes in the area. Search La Mesa homes at our website, or give me a call for a personal consultation. I’ve lived in the area for years and will be happy to show you the wonderful neighborhoods throughout the La Mesa area and why this is such a great place to call home!
