I failed and I need some encouraging words...

I set out to network with a company and proposed 50 companies in 50 days. Well folks, I failed. I got to 11 and got 6 leads and 3 seem to have worked out as contracts. I did learn alot about the time frames involved in establishing network groups and connections, but still I have feelings of failure.

Is there a way for me to focus on what's gone right? Is there a way for us to share our failures in book or journal as we network all over the USA ?

There is a light at that the end of the tunnel. I know this. So I pray and have a peace shortly thereafter.

Hi John... well, you can come join us in the Active Rain Goal Setters club! You got some great results... all that is lacking is "continued" follow through. You just have to keep on keeping on. What was your why for setting the goal? What caused you to stop? These are just a few questions you can ask yourself.

Try, Fail, Adjust, Try, Fail, Adjust, Try, Fail Adjust, Try, Fail, SUCCEED!

To your success,

Susan

John:  Fifty attempts, 11 interviews, 6 leads and 3 contracts.  That is awesome.  A six percent closing... and I mean "closing" percentage on brand new, cold leads... is exceptional.  Just think what you could do if you concentrated on working only with your "relationship sphere"... all of those people who already know you, like you and trust you ?  The sky is the limit.  Keep on keepin' on !

John:  I just looked at your profle, and found you are in tune with By Referral Only.  With that in mind, take your fifty presentations, and spend that same time by contacting fifty of your past clients... or anyone you know... and see where that gets you.  That is working in your "after unit."  Or, if you have any clients you are currently working with... By Referral Only suggests that you should be getting a 50% referral return on those clients in your "during unit."  That is actually the best time to get a referral.  Referrals... totally warm clients who already have been told how cool you are.

John,

You made a very worthy goal, I think you just didn't allow enough time. It can take years to network with the right people, however it can get you "In" with the right people so you get leads on a regular basis. That is a great goal!

Please don't feel down about your accomplishment! You made 11 new contacts, which may not have turned out a lead right now, but may in the future. Out of those 11, you got 6 leads, of which 3 turned into signed contracts. So out of the 6 you got, 3 turned into good, solid leads!!! Thats over 50%! You should be jumping for joy that on your first time out to network, you received 3 solid contracts, which will make you an extra $10,000? Maybe $15,000. That my friend IS money you will be able to put in the bank.

Besides, if you can sell those 3 fast and do a great job, you may end up with a lot more business with the same people or their referral base! Way to go!!!

Hi John,

I think the results that you got in such a short period of time and the fact that they resulted in contracts during a challening market like we have today says that you did not fail, but actually SUCCEEDED!  Congratulations.

I don't understand what you are unhappy about... LOL... you did very well with your efforts... now just pick up where you left off... Sounds as if you may be a perfectionist?  Nothing wrong with that but you may be too critical of yourself.
