Continuing our County Tour of Elkhart County, Indiana. (If you missed the previous Blogs, the local MLS helped to form a committee that allowed us as Agents to learn what is available in the County and to be able to pass that information on to new home buyers in the area.)
In this session, the Director of the Elkhart County Parks Department, Larry Neff, came to the MLS to bring us up to date as to what the County has to offer in the way of recreational parks and the State Parks in the County. He began with telling us the history of the area and how several Indian Tribes that settled in the area helped to make the parks what they re today. He gave us a power point tour of the county and the walking and biking trals available. The Heritage Trail, which goe through several cities which have on displays of flowers in their vibrnt colors made to look like Giant quilts or carpets. You can find more at QuiltGardens.com.
He told us the history of Bonneville Mill, an old grist mill, still in operation today, which you can visit and purchase grain, freshly ground at the mill. It is located ouside of Bristol, Indiana at 53373 County Road 131. Phone 574-535-6458.
The one hour session was videotaped and a copy of the DVD was donated to the Elkhart County Library.
