MacKenzie Brothers home in the Pinehills

The Pinehills is a community of homes set in the third-largest pine ecosystem in the world. In just over ten years, more than 1,700 homes have been built by a variety of builders. Each area has its own feel, its own style, and a slightly different package of amenities that come with the houses.

At the center of the Pinehills is a golf course. Oh, that's right, THREE golf courses. Two of these are 18-hole courses at the Pinehills Golf Club, one designed by Rees Jones and the other by Nicklaus Golf. These are public, daily fee, golf courses, and they are very good! The third is the Old Sandwich Golf Course, neaby in the Pinehills, and members-only. It was designed by Coore & Crenshaw, and was recently ranked 38th in the United States and 68th in the world.

The Pinehills is situated on over 3,000 acres, and over 70% of it is preserved as natural open space.

The Pinehills Golf Club

In each neighborhood, the homes were built in groups that conserve open space, trees and wildlife habitat and allow for terrific views and a sense of privacy. Each area was planned in a way that harmonizes with the setting, whether near the golf courses, in the trees, or near a pond. The roads mimic the natural contours of the valleys and hills, providing a sense of tranquility and community amongst the woodlands.

Woodsong sold in the Pinehills

Over the next couple of months, I will tell the story of the Pinehills, and describe the many pleasures of, and reasons for, choosing to live in this idyllic planned community, with all the advantages of 21st-century living -- in the old New England style.

In the past six months, single-family homes in the Pinehills, Plymouth, Massachusetts, have sold for prices between $325,000 and $750,000, with one additional sale for $950,000. During the same period, condominiums have sold for prices between $290,000 and $529,966. I'd be glad to talk with you at your convenience to show you why those price differences exist!

Pinehills is set within the backdrop of the third largest pine ecosystem in the world with 70% of its land preserved?  Wow, that sounds like an incredible setting. With each home set privately and the countoured roads, it seems like Pinehills would be a very scenic place to live.
