As the balmy breezes give way to brisk ones, it becomes increasingly clear that winter has come upon us; and with the changing of the season, we close another chapter of events that have come to define autumns in the Pacific Northwest.
Nonetheless, when one door closes, another opens and with that, we are given an opportunity to enjoy the vast array of winter activities that are also unique to our region.

There are literally hundreds of pacific northwest events on the calendar. Some of the most recent additions have been added to the pre-school programs page and are listed below.
Clubs: Newcastle Rotary Club - Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna will be the guest speaker at the Newcastle Rotary Club meeting at 7:30 AM on March 19th. The public is invited. A breakfast buffet and coffee will be served for $20. Regular meetings take place at 7:30 AM on Wednesdays at The Golf Club at Newcastle, 1550 Six Penny Lane. Call 206-947-5741 for more information.

Classes: An Herb Garden Design class is at 10:30 AM on March 15th at Squak Mountain Greenhouses and Nursery, 7600 Renton-Issaquah Road S.E.. Join Patti, renowned herb expert as she shares ideas for your herb garden. For more information call 425-392-1025.
Classes: A Deer Proof class is at 10:30 AM on March 22nd at Squack Mountain Greenhouses and Nursery, 7600 Renton-Issaquah Road S.E.. Have hungry deer caused you headaches in your garden? Faith: Purim Carnival March 16th - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The Purim Carnival is from 3 PM to 5 PM at Beit Tikvah Messianic Congregation, 7935 136th Ave S.E. in Newcastle. Carnival games will be played. Refreshments are available for sale. It is optional to come in costume (positive character, Biblical costumes, country western theme). An evening program with the Purim play, "A Rootin' Tootin' Purim," based on the Book of Esther, follows from 6-8PM. There will be door prizes. For more information call 425-793-3000.
Youth: Newcastle Baseball Club League Opening Day Festivities - March 29th
More than 320 baseball players from the Newcastle Baseball Club League will celebrate opening day festivities at the Renton Academy Fields March 29th. Tentatively scheduled activities include homerun derby, base races, pitching accuracy and whiffleball games. For more detailes, go to http://www.newcastlebaseball.com/.
