Property owners who own real estate and are concerned with their property tax bill can appeal their statement with the local Board of Property Tax Appeals (BOPTA). The appeal must be filed between October, when taxes are mailed out, and December 31st. To file an appeal the property owner must gather the proper forms from the office of county clerk from the county in which the property is located. If the property owner is not satisfied with the boards decision regarding property value, the property owner can file an appeal with the Magistrate Division of the Oregon Tax Court. If this appeal is not successful the process can be filed with the Regular Division of the Tax Court and the Oregon Supreme Court.
