I Think the Public is Wising Up about Zillow and Trulia.
I am beginning to believe that even buyers and sellers are seeing the inaccuracy in data being put out by the big boys on the web.Two times in the last couple of weeks I have had confirmation of this. The first was a buyer calling in to check on a listing she saw on the big boys sites. Of course in checking further I learned the listing sold and closed back in the spring. The buyer said she figured as much because it just sounded too good to be true that a property at that price would be on the market for so many months in a hot market.
Another proof of the public wising up to Zillow and Trulia was when showing a father and son a home last week the son said that the house was priced over value according to his research found on the big boys sites. Thank goodness his dad was along to help his son make a good decision. He said son, "You can't believe those websites. I checked my home and they have it almost a hundred thousand below its market value." Dad went on to say that he thought the value of the home we were viewing was worth more than the seller was asking.
I didn't have to explain to either buyer that these sites have less than accurate information about values or availability. I let them come to the realization on their own. I think the public is wising up about Zillow and Trulia.
