Tick Tock Tick Tock! The Waiting is Killing Me!
Okay, so I am exaggerating....a little. But really, whether you are forced to wait for a doctor's appointment or for your car to get its oil changed or for a seller to respond to your offer, it can be tough to wait.
We all get so used to instant gratification these days. We want to know something and we can Google it. We can go online and find out most answers immediately. Yet when we deal with other people, our responses are not instant.
This morning, my buyer has already emailed me, texted me and called me twice...all before 9:00 am. Our deadline for the offer to the seller is 3:00 pm today. It was submitted last night around 5:00 pm. I received the acknowledgement from the listing agent that the offer was received.
The buyers are anxious, I get that. So I decided to check in with the listing agent. She let me know that she was going to meet with the sellers at 11:00 am this morning since one of the sellers works from 2:30 to 11:00pm. That is why she could not meet with him last night right away.
It all makes sense now and the buyer will stop calling knowing that a response will be coming soon. But just like the seller that calls right after a showing and wants to know what the buyer thought, we need to set expectations and guidelines upfront and gently remind them when necessary.
It has been a tough week for one of my sellers and now one of my buyers. In the future, and to relieve the pressure, I am going to make it a habit to ask the listing agent when they plan to meet with the seller so that I can give the buyer a timeframe to expect a response. We will see if that helps with the anxiety.
Crossing my fingers for good news today for my buyer!
Have a great Thursday and keep smiling!
Karen
