The holidays are definitely upon us! Two of our favorite local holiday events are the Holiday Open House in South Orange and Dickens Village in Maplewood.

South Orange Holiday Open House
The holiday Open House in South Orange is on Dec 7. Santa will be visiting Village shops and restaurants from 1-3pm before setting up shop in the lobby of 76 South Orange Avenue for free visits and photos from 3pm to 5pm. The Shopper's Oasis Lounge at 76 South Orange Avenue is the place to warm up, chill out and enjoy free gift wrap, food and drink, live entertainment and good cheer. Tree lighting is at 5pm.
Maplewood Dickens Village
Maplewood Dickens Village is a festive gift from the business community to the local residents and visitors. Horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers, concerts, refreshments, children’s activities, special shopping nights make it so amazing.

Tuesday, December 3rd
- 6:30 pm: Menorah Lighting in Ricalton Square
Saturday, December 7th
- 1 pm: Santa arrives escorted by the Maplewood Fire Department
- 1-4 pm: Dickens Village Houses open for viewing
- 1-3 pm: Visit with Santa
- 3-4 pm: Story Hour readings by the Director and staff of the Department of Public Works
- 4-5 pm: Tree Lighting Program Holiday Reading by Township Committeeman Marlon Brownlee Entertainment by The Collectives with vocals by Lam Phillips Traditional Holiday Reading by Mayor Vic DeLuca Tree Lighting
Saturday, December 14th
- 9:30 am: Breakfast with Santa at St. James Gate and the Village Trattoria
- 1-4 pm: Dickens Village Houses open for viewing
- 1-4 pm: Visit with Santa
- 1-2 pm: Maplewood Community Music's Annual Holiday Band Concert ~ Burgdorff Community Center - admission free
- 1:30-3:30 pm: Jack's Petting Zoo Horse & wagon rides through the village
- 2-2:45 pm: Holiday reading for children at Words Bookstore
- 4-5 pm: Swingtown, Maplewood's Community Band Concert ~ Burgdorff Community Center - admission free
Saturday, December 21
- 1-4 pm: Dickens Village Houses open for viewing
- 1-4 pm: Visit with Santa
- 1:30-3:30 pm: Jack's Petting Zoo
- 1:30-4 pm: Horse & wagon rides through the village
- 2-2:45 pm: Craft & Story Program for children of all ages at Maplewood Memorial Library ~ Baker Street
