This Day in History... As Told by Your Humble Raleigh, Cary, Apex Area Real Estate Agent!

It was on this day, December 17th, 1903, that Orville and Wilbur Wright, two brothers from someplace other than the Raleigh, Cary, Apex area, were successful in flying a plane that they built. The first ever flight lasted for a total of 12 seconds and took place in Kitty Hawk, NC, which, just happens to be a short drive to the Raleigh, Cary, Apex area!

I'm still amazed that anything other than birds can fly and even more amazed at how far aviation has come in such a short time. We've gone from this...

The first flight!

To this...

To putting a man on the moon...

...in a little over a century.

So, the next time you're flying somewhere, just remember that it all happened right here in North Carolina... just a short drive away from the Raleigh, Cary, Apex area!
