I haven’t actually input my 2013 expenses, but I know I spent too much money on items that provided no return. There’s a lot I invested that was well worth it, but much was just thrown out the window.
So my 2014 plan is to review expenses and have some degree of certainty that they will reap rewards before spending. For example, if a home Seller will not invest in home staging, I’m not footing the entire bill – and no more overpriced listings.
Also to go along with that include requesting (and giving) more online reviews, as Debbie Gartner proposes. I know I have plenty of clients who would gladly provide me with a good review on Trulia, Zillow or Google if I just sent them a reminder or a nudge. And as usual, the more you give, the more you receive. So I’m going to take advantage of that.
My “Me” contract for 2014 – cutting expenses, getting free stuff
I’m also going to spend some time refreshing my web site – no cost, just time. There are pages that haven’t been revised in three to five years, and a facelift will provide better content and remind Google that I’m alive and well.
Press releases – this will be a challenge for me, because it’s hard to toot one’s own horn. But it’s a big payoff for a small amount of work – once you learn where to post, how to submit, etc. Anyone with pointers, please send them my way.
Now, holding myself accountable will be a challenge. I'm going to input expenses on a monthly AND PROJECT basis as opposed to waiting until the end of the year. I'm going to have a checklist for reviews, press releases and web updates - and hopefully post about these on Active Rain and Google+ so you all can see how I'm doing.
So my 2014 plan is to work smarter and spend less. Wishing prosperity and success to all of us!!!
