Photographing in the Rain

Photographing in the Rain...  No not in the ActiveRain, but in the pouring down rain!

My sister came into town last week to go birding and look for birds to photograph.  The days she was here, it was dark, cloudy and raining.  We went to several parks on Friday afternoon and... no birds.  But Saturday, we went to Blacklick Woods Metro Park and there we did find, with the help of a nationally known wildlife photographer, Donald M. Jones, a Barred Owl which she was able to get a few pictures of.  I, on the other hand, didnt get a good picture of the owl, at least not one that I would want to publish or share.  However, in spite of the fact that it was raining, I did get some good pictures of fog rising from the pond and a few pictures of bark and a tree.

Blacklick Woods

Opened in 1948, Blacklick Woods is the oldest and one of the busiest Metro Parks. The forest areas of this 643-acre park are laced with trails that wind through a swamp forest with white oak, pin oak and white ash along with red maple, red elm, shagbark, butternut hickory and dogwood.  The park features more than six miles of trails for hiking, biking and jogging.

Roberta,

You have a real talent with nature photography. I've been told sometimes it takes a lot of patience.  Maybe the nature photography can somehow work to your advantage with selling homes in 2014!

Andrew - thank you for your kind words. It does take a lot of patience along with the right equipment, the right lighting and the ability to "see" a photograph.
