Buying or Selling Property in the Winter
Buying or Selling Property in the Winter is largely dependant on what is going on in your local market. Other than speculators most people buy or sell property due to circumstances or life events. The weather is seldom a factor in the decision to buy or sell. Contrary to popular belief I have found selling in the winter can sometimes favour the seller due to there being less competing listings available. Many people will take their home off the market before Christmas to avoid the inconvience of showings over the holidays. Buyers come along when they come along. Having your home on the market can be very much like the lottery. Meaning you can't win it if you are not in it. The market ebbs and flows around winter weather and in some area's less daylight after supper. More rural properties such as farm and land will see a slow down with a heavy snow fall but sales still happen. Most people understand we can't control the weather and if we don't like it just wait and it will change. My advice. Buying or selling don't ignore the winter market. It just might be the best time to buy or sell.
