Drought is over, I believe for sure now!

Galena and Reeds Spring are used to dealing with a lot of water this time of year, but we are seeing more rain this week than I can remember since?  Water rescues of folks from their homes and records being changed that have been around since 1933 for flood levels and rainfall amounts.  People should know better but are like me and think they can make it no matter how deep it gets, getting washed down the rivers.  Crazy but true today and yet, I love the Ozarks, would not change a thing out it.  This is what makes the creeks and rivers clean again, restores my belief that we are still seeing normal cycles of weather, not scary global warming, and life continues to be exciting and interesting still.  The trees are budding out and the grass is greening, the flowers are popping up and it is going to be a really beautiful spring this year, so come on down, it will be gorgeous.

I think you have gotten a little bit more south, but the Columbia area is getting pelted as well.  This pictures was on the front page of the Columbia Daily Tribune this evening.  See the car on the right:)

Since Monday evening, we have had over 8 inches of rain here! And we were way ahead for the year already. I spent yesterday at home, not wanting to be one of those requiring rescue! This morning I saw water in places I had never seen it before. But I also saw nice new buds on my apple trees, a lot more green than there was just Sunday, and in lulls between the rain, I heard the birds singing.

I LOVE Spring in the Ozarks, and am hoping for an above-average rainfall year so we get good crops, lots of hay for the ranchers, and fun on the rivers!!!

Amber, you are so right, it works that way doesn't it?  I was just thinking how much better the fishing will be this year because of this cleansing we just received.   Here are  some pictures from around Galena:

My kids have even noticed that the grass has is getting greener! I've been antsy to get outside and work in the yard and make some camping plans!  Thanks for the reminder on the rivers!  We're planning on a few good float trips this year!

Took my wife and Mother-in-law on their first canoe trip last summer and put in at Cox ford, made it into the water almost, tipped the canoe, dumped 2 ladies and their cell phones.  Neither will go again, oh well, I would rather fish in my bass boat anyway:)  Have a great float, looks like we'll have a lot more water to enjoy for awhile.
