SELLING MY AMARILLO HOUSE WAS A NIGHTMARE.....
And it still isn't sold. Recently I was told this story (paraphrased) by a very dissatisfied seller.
"We wanted to sell our house because it is simply too small. We called the Realtor we used when we bought the house because she was awesome. Well, she retired and referred us to another Realtor. That is when the problem started.
My husband and I work different shifts so he is home asleep during the day. We needed some notice so that he wouldn't be in bed. Apparently that never got relayed because two different times a Realtor just walked in and caught my husband in his boxers.
The Realtor put a sign in the yard but it broke and he never came to fix it. The only description we saw about the house anywhere was that it was a 2/1. In effect, no one even knew it was for sale.
You contacted us and told us our listing had expired. We didn't even know that. Very dissatisfied."
As a Realtor in Amarillo I hate to hear stories like this. We are in the service business. We get to choose if we give good service or bad service. Unfortunately, the bad service hurts our industry as a whole.
When asked, sellers almost unanimously agree that communication or lack thereof is their number one complaint. When the house is shown they never receive feedback. Or they didn't know if anyone was even asking about the house.
I am just going to put this out there.....when there is nothing to report most Realtors hate to make the call. From a seller point of view, though, a call saying there is nothing to report is better than no call at all.
As an Amarillo Realtor, I like to have feedback, too. How am I doing? Did I meet your expectations? What could I have done to improve your real estate experience?
