Auto Sales Must Be Booming right now.
Or are they?
I don't get this. I took my car in for service yesterday and while waiting for my wife to come pick me up I spent about 20 minutes in the showroom. During those 20 minutes I looked carefully at each of the six or seven new vehicles on the showroom floor. I looked at the sticker price. I looked at the posted milage. I looked at the options. I also looked inside each and every one of them.
I kept wondering when one of the 6 salespeople lingering in the showroom would approach me. Kept wondering and wondering right up until I walked past the two who held the doors open for me when I walked out the front door. That's the only time any one of them spoke to me.
Wow. Like I said. I just don't get this. Especially being so close to the end of the month I always thought car salespeople had to bust ass to either meet or exceed their quota by the end of the month.
So was March such a good month of auto sales that they were just too pooped to sell any more? Or was it such a bad month that they were just totally demoralized and not even trying to sell cars? Or did I catch them on a day when they were sworn to a vowell of silence for the day?
I just don't get it. I'm coming to the end of my current lease and beginning to think about a new vehicle. Maybe this is the future of car dealers........self service? Could it be?
