Blogging Boot Camp Series - Class 2 Recap

The second class in ActiveRain's Blogging Boot Camp series focuses on one of the most challenging parts of blogging - picking what to write about! In 'Be Found: What to Blog About So Consumers Find Your Blog,' we dive into what kind of content a successful real estate blog generally consists of, and what kind of phrases consumers are looking for that could lead them to your content. After all, if you write a great blog and don't give it a great title, you're basically digging your own grave!

In this class, ActiveRain Community Evangelist Bob Stewart dives into:

- How to construct a keyword phrase
- The critical elements of a keyword phrase (for real estate, specifically)
- How your choice of keyword phrase leads to more traffic for your blog
- Where to find blueprints for common blog post topics

To top it off, we're giving you 500 examples of keywords phrases that can be used as real estate blog titles. You'll want to download this list and tape it next to your computer!

I really enjoyed the Blogging Boot Camp class yesterday and learned a bit about choosing the correct titles to grab attention and will now implement! Thanks Bob and AR for offering such valuable information on helping us build a better business.

Your class on good keyword phrases for blog articles was helpful.  If you will post a replay, I'd like to listen again.  Thanks.

Any reason why the particular areas featuring those keywords were picked? It's funny because I used to work in the Pocono PA real estate market and did a lot with Saw Creek Estates in Bushkill and in Tobyhanna PA. Did not see much of anything with regard to towns in Bergen County and New Jersey. I have been putting a lot out there but am not getting ranked.

Jason,

There wasn't a particular reason. The examples I shared during the call of different keyword phrases were mostly based on my experience, or trends we used to be able to track in Google Analytics (we no longer get keyword phrases in google analytics).

As I went back through your blog, it looks like you have a lot of content at a city level. Meaning that you are writing blog posts about real estate in a certain city. This is where the big boys live (Trulia, Zillow, REALTOR.com). You need to get hyper local and focus on the long tail. Really study this recording. There are small things you are doing that you need to change. Like this post is a great example:

http://activerain.com/blogsview/4331945/bergen-county-active-adult-four-seasons-at-ridgemont--montvale--nj-

In that post, your real keyword phrase is: Four Seasons at Ridgemont in Montvale NJ

But you throw in some extra junk in the beginning of your title, distracting from what you actualy want to rank for. Then you don't use the keyword phrase any more than in the first sentence of your post.

I would suggest you go back and look at some of our blogging blueprint classes where we detail how to write a post like the one you wrote about Four Seasons at Ridgemont.

Hi Bob, thanks for the class and pointers yesterday- so....going forward I think I can do better.  What about going backward?  Should we edit older posts that have good content but aren't getting the traffic or just leave them alone?

A great blog has to have great content, without it, it does not matter how many keywords you stuff in there , its not going to get picked up and or ranked any better than a blog post with just key words .
