Pictures or no pictures?

Reblogger Tammie White, Broker
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Franklin Homes Realty LLC

As a Franklin TN REALTOR®, I will ask you to remove the majority of your family photos from your home. I know many agents may not think this is a concern. However, I have seen buyers who completely forgot about the homes they viewed because they were staring at the seller's photos instead of paying close attention to the house. Do yourself a favor, remove photos and you remove distractions.

Often, listing agents will tell a potential seller that they must take down all pictures as part of de-cluttering their home. I disagree. Even though we know that home becomes a commodity as soon as it is listed, it is still the home of the peopler living there. I tell my clients to keep their favorite photos around them as they are still living in their home. I do tell them to take down some if they have walls of pictures. I hate when the seller feels like they are losing the home they live in just to list it.

By using this technique of not requiring the home listed to be sterilized of all owner photos, I have never had an issue with the home selling. The next time you tell a potential seller to remove all their memories from the home, take a look around. It would be wise to let the owner retain some of their favorite memories. They still need to live there while selling their home. Let's allow them to be happy while they are there as well.
