 How to Raise Kids with Dogs?

When your household contains both children and dogs, you can use methods to demonstrate and practice to achieve the best possible levels of safety for both parties. When you raise kids with dogs, you must teach them both to be respectful of one another.

Prepare Dogs for New Babies

·         Let your dog to enter the nursery room with adult supervision. This will help your dog become familiar to new furniture, new smells, and a new environment.

·         You can apply some baby products to yourself or your dog's toys. It will allow your dog to become familiar with your baby's smell.

·         Play audio or videos of babies crying; this will help familiarize your dog with a crying baby so they can adjust to the extra noise when the baby arrives.

·         When baby arrives, introduce your dog to him/ her.

Tell your family member to hold your dog while slowly approach the dog with the baby.

·         Establish companionship instead of competition between your dog and the baby.

Bring your baby along when you take your dog for walks. Give your dog a treat when you are required to pay more attention to the baby.

Prepare Children for Dogs

·         Show your kid how to pet the dog in a nice manner. It may help your kids from putting some force and hurt the dog.

·         Show your kid how to play fetch with your dog.

·         Usually dog may become irritable and angry with your child if your child interrupt them during sleeping and eating. Teach your child to stay away from your dog while your dog sleeps and eats.

·         Inform your child not to tease the dog. Your dog may become upset and uncomfortable when your child doing such as ear-pulling or jumping onto the dog while they are resting.

·         Help your child to establish friendly relationship to your dog. Engage your children to your dog in a regular basis like in bathing or combing your dog, or providing them with food and water.
