Ideal Location and Style for a Bed and Breakfast

Photo of 130 South RyanIn Lake Charles, this is an authentic Arts and Crafts Bungalow located in Margaret Place, a city historic district in Lake Charles, LA.

While the property has always been a residence, there are several reasons to support its potential as an ideal bed and breakfast:

  • Within walking distance to St. Patrick's Hospital, Drew Park, Locke Park and our beautiful lake
  • Across the street from D'Angelos, one of the most popular (and neighborhood friendly) restuarants in Lake Charles. D'Angelos will be even better than before after it is rebuilt due to the recent fire.
  • The existing mixed used zoning already allows for Bed and Breakfast use
  • The floor plan, especially the living area and wide front porch screams "bed and breakfast"
  • Within minutes of downtown Lake Charles
  • The lot provides room for parking with additional parking available for lease on the lot to the immediate right of the subject.

There are numerous other uses for this classic property that offers 3549 square feet of living area and 4452 total square feet. The configuration of the 5 bedrooms and 3 baths make this the ultimate HOME OFFICE providing spacious and private living upstairs. Other uses? How about private dining. Or an interior design or art studio. An upper scale antique shop? Professional firms such as CPA, legal, medical oriented or real estate offices would benefit in this location.

Buy now and be well-settled in for the 100th year anniversary of Margaret Place in 2012!

Hey MK,

Yoy know we have been planning on various projects for quite some time now and have had several plans "come together" but it is always a high.  If we keep this up, we could have a "Cajun Blog" get together in Lake Charles.  Do you think we could get all of our Texas (and anywhere else) friends to come over for some casino fun and food?

Margaret Place is a real gem of an area in Lake Charles and his is a great example of its architechture.

Derenda, great idea. I talked with Wendy Howell from Lafayette, Youngsville yesterday to encourage her to start blogging. She's already accepted the invitation and is going to call me tomorrow to discuss. She's always ready for a get-together!  We can talk about all this at the LR meeting in a few weeks.

Thanks for the comment about Margaret Place.  As a resident, I have an obvious bias and hope to create a blog about it today.  Did you know that in 2012 Margaret Place will be 100 years old?

Besides a bed and breakfast, 130 South Ryan would also be great as a home office, up-scale antique shop, or ideal for private dining.

Mary Kay, I want to see inside photos!!! Very cute home, and looks like a great setting for a B&B. I can just imagine rocking chairs and lounges on that great front porch. ;-)
