Do Something Important: Buy American…..
Was your local community affected by the downturn a couple of years ago? Elkhart County Economic Foundation took their job as trying to recruit new businesses to our area a little farther. They went out and talked to every manufacturing faciility in the county and asked what kind of parts they purchased from out of our county, plus what kind of parts they themselves manufactured, if any. They kept a log for each Manufacturer. When possible they introduced local manufacturer's to other local manufacturer's that could profit from a relationship with each other. Buy local! This is an ongoing project, as you can imagine, but more of our local dollars are now staying local. Buy LOCAL!
If you want to be patriotic, I have an idea: buy American. Talk about making a difference, helping citizens continue to move forward is a very positive thing and makes a real difference. A barbecue is nice any day, and I like the fireworks as much as anyone, but what will really celebrate independence: supporting a local merchant who sells things made in America. And to my Canadian friends: feel free to join the movement too.
