Do you comment beyond 250?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner

As I look at my commenting habit, I tend to over comment and go beyond the threshold of the "10 comments" a day.

Do you comment beyond your points?

I do, because as a community, I don't believe we should stop at 10 if time allows. Its the feedback that people seek when they ask for help, and I generally like to help. Also, there are posts that are simply inspiring and/or educating, and being a student of this industry, AR is a great place to absorb them. Some of you might say...why waste your time, you won't get any points.

I submit to you stop looking at points and look for pointers where you can grow as a professional.

I only comment on posts that are of interest to me.  Sometimes more than 10 sometimes less.

I think commenting for the sake of getting points is "pointless", if that is the only reaon you are doing it, so I agree with you.  I think the point is to learn new things and help others.

Excellent post Johnny.  I also comment regardless of points.  My criteria is simply

  • 1) Do I have anything of value to add?,
  • 2) Did I learn something? If so, I should thank the author and
  • 3) do I have a follow-up question?

If I can answer 'yes' to any of these, I leave a comment regardless of whether it is the first of the day or the 30th.

Very well said, I from time to time go over and sometimes I don't make it to 10 it all adds up to proper balance of time for the moment.

I am so tired of the points thing.  Either you like being here or you don't.  Either you have a post or you don't.  If you comment 5 times a day - great.  If it is 10 - great.  I don't count - if I like the post and have something to contribute then I do.

thank you all for your feedback. As Leesa puts it...you like being here or you don't. Contribution of your opinion and insight is the main reason I read AR.

I believe that most people, on this site, don't post just for the points.  We all like to help, or need help.  As the market gets busier, it will be more difficult to post at all.  Out and about writing offers, and taking more listings is what we are really all about.  Love this profession!

It's a Good Life!

I agree, I am new to the site and really looking more for insight and help with growing my business. I have spent probably 10 hours over the last two days just reading people's blogs and gathering information and knowledge about how to grow my business and be an excellent blogger! I think if someone says something good and you have something to add to the conversation then add it by all means!!!

I comment as often as I have time. There may be days where it is 5 or 20. I look at it as information exchange not a points exercise.

Great topic for discussion - I just comment, regardless of the points. Some days, it's hard to find even a few posts to add value to. Other days, the comments just flow.

I don't watch the points for my responses. I am pretty new to this and I am still amazed at the information that is shared on AR.

Unless I am on vacation I try to comment on as many as I possibly have time to do. I only have an hour in the morning and evening blocked off to do so, and write my blogs.

Opps this puts me over 10!  LOL  Sometimes I am over, sometimes under.  A lot just depends on how my day is going and how much time I have to be here.  I will just post comments until I am flat out tired. :-)
