How to Choose the RIGHT Realtor - The Pizza Method

As a Realtor it is my first priority to provide the best of the best customer service to my clients. This means being an honest and skilled guide to get you from point A to point Z in the transaction. I am always in shock when I find consumers who have been represented by a Realtor who stops at point D! Because of these huge disparities in service, I find a lot of consumers asking “How to Choose the RIGHT Realtor”!? While choosing the RIGHT Realtor can be daunting, I have come to a simple mindset that works for me and my clients.

 

I like to think of it like a pizza … The Pizza Method if you will.

 

 

Now, I am not talking about a regular Tuesday night where you are hungry for a slice, I am talking about the “it’s my birthday, I want to celebrate with some dough” kind of gig – after all, You ARE Buying a HOUSE!

 

So, How should you choose the RIGHT Pizza … er… Realtor!

 

First ask “What Are My Options”?

 

Well, you can order from a national chain with a $10 deal and time stamped freshness.  Aka you can work with a “big-box” Realtor who slashes their fees (and really their service) just to get the order. This type of Realtor usually seems successful because they may have a lot of business, but, what they won’t tell you is that most (or none) of it comes from repeat customers. Do you really have to ask why? Is it worth it to struggle through buying a house just to save a little dough? 

 

 

You can also order from that “pizza place down the street”. You don’t see many reviews about them online, you don’t know anyone that has eaten there, but hey, let’s give it a try. It’s probably a step up from the national chain and certainly can “do the job”, but, for your Birthday (aka the momentous step of Buying a House), do you really want someone that can just “do the job”.

 

Now, this is a special occasion, so, you could head over to the local grocery and pick up some Boboli pizza crust, some packaged pepperoni, maybe some canned pineapple and shredded mozzarella cheese. Sounds good right? Well, it probably is. A Realtor that is made of Boboli crust, mozzarella cheese, and packaged toppings is exactly that … GOOD! For some this might be enough, for some they might not find the importance of surpassing GOOD to find Great. There are plenty of GOOD Realtors out there, they are a dime a dozen, but, don’t forget, this is your BIRTHDAY! So, hop back on the horse and ride into the sunset to find ….

 

 

The HOLY-COW-PREMIER-PACKAGE-PIZZA! For me, this is the Pizza you get in Italy! The make the dough fresh every morning, spend hours crafting handmade mozzarella in perfectly shaped pearlescent balls, artfully stuff homemade sausage  with the best of the best meat, and even pick fresh basil from the garden to top it all off! It’s cooked in a wood-fired pizza oven and served HOT with a cold brew!

Ahhhhh, now, doesn’t that sound nice? It is.
To find a Realtor that will spend all day in the “kitchen” making sure your “meal” is prepared perfectly to taste, in my opinion, is the only way to go! There are so many intricacies involved in a Real Estate transaction and knowing that you have the crème-de-la-crème representing you will certainly make your “birthday” one to remember!

 

So, when you are ready to take the next step towards buying or selling a home, do your research. Ask your friends and family for referrals, search out some Realtors in Your Area that specialize in the neighborhood in which you live or want to live, and “interview” them! You will want to use online resources to check out your prospects’ profile. You will want to interview them in person to learn about their working style and even more importantly, their personality. Once you have met the “RIGHT” one, always remember to be honest an straightforward about your expectations.
