Flood insurance is on the rise! Its sad to say, but I think it will soon be driving waterfront property owners out of there homes due to unaffordablity. Here in Bristol County Ma. we are having a lot of flood insurance scares with the new FEMA Maps and insurance qoutes. The new maps are a result of recent natural disasters. This has caused waterfront property to come to a standing hault! & not just "waterfront" a small nearby stream or even a small pond can put a home in a flood zone.
A good website to check the Flood risk of a home is FloodSmart.gov. There, you can type in the address, get a Flood Zone assessment and even a quote. Remember, every lender has different flood insurance requirements and every insurance has different standards as well. BUYERsS, Make sure your Realtor does their due diligence for you!
