Update your Google listing

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 iProperties Hawaii RS-54129

I just received an automated call to update my Google listing.  The message said "our records show your Google listing has not been updated.  Press 1 now to update your listing.  Press 2 now to..."  at that point I hung up.

It was tempting to press 1, as I had spoken with real humans at Google Adwords in the past and it crossed my mind that something actually needed to be updated.  On the other hand, I had the phone number on caller ID.

So I Googled (of course) the phone number: 832-786-4520.

It's not Google and yes they make a lot of calls like this.  There were discussion threads about this number and they are associated with the website showmegram dot com (I'm not gonna give them a real link).

The website says it's "The Ultimate Business Opportunity!"

I don't need to see anymore, pass on this one.

You were smart enough to smell the scam.  How many people fall victim to these bogus "Google" calls?

Yea I just got a call from these clowns.. They call then ask for your name after you press one... I said "no" who is this.. He then replied "are you the business owner"... I replied "business owner of what?" They didn't know.. The replied "you could be Santa Clause that's what I'm calling to verify.. I said "incorrect"... And I hung up. SCAM ALERT!!

It always cracks me up when somebody like that calls, telling me I'm on page 15 of Google for some search I don't care about.  Then they ask me for my e-mail address - hello, contact me through the website!
