Online Training vs. Classroom Training?

By
Real Estate Agent with Professional Real Estate Partners

I have always thought about getting renewal hours online for the convenience. Our local Association offers classes for free throughout the year in the classroom. But the idea of taking time off during the middle of the day when you could be making money keeps me from going.

Or is it the ft that I procrastinate on certain things like many of some of you as well? Hmmm... Well, I personally think that the online training might be the way to go. has anyone taken the online training and did you get a lot out of it?  I like the fact that if you have questions on a certain situation you have an instructor who can answer your questions.

What are your thoughts on this matter?  I know most of you are like me and live behind a keyboard anyways for work but do you take your training also online?   I guess when you think of it, most of us get our training here on Active Rain!!  Wow, who'da thunk it!

Happy Valentines Day!

Personally I like the interaction that I get through a class.  Now if I wait to the last minute to update my MCE you can bet I'm heading for the online class but I usually don't get much out of it.  I think it is the interaction with other people where I really learn.  I guess you could say that was like Active Rain.

I like the classroom and the interaction. I took one class for a certain number of hours of credit and was shocked that is took less than an hour to rack up some hours. I don't know if I learned that much from the material. I don't think I will do any more online training. Classroom takes additional time but I think it is worth it for me.

I am not suprised by the definite difference in preferences. I am still leaning towards the online training because of convenience, but I honestly do like the interaction and gaining more knowledge from a personal stand point.

On line is nice for some of the longer classes but I prefer interacting with other agents in a classroom setting.

I love online classes.  Nothing beats it.  Learn on my own schedule.  Work on the material late at night before bed, or when I need a break from business for an hour during the day.  Learn while wearing your pajamas...or before taking a shower...or when you just don't feel like getting all dressed up.

And, you never have to deal with that one person who dominates every class with a multitude of mundane questions...

I love online training for the same reason Don does.  I think it would benefit all of us if we could tailor our training to different learning styles.  When I'm in a class, there is always that one person Don is talking about.  When they're asking for even more clarification on something that's been covered five times or asking completely irrelevant questions, I zone out.  When I snap back into it, I often find that I've missed something important.  That's just me though.  Classes do have the benefit of interaction and networking, but there are a lot of other opportunities for that in our area.
