How many times have you had an emergency and are frantic to find the number of the person or persons that can help or that you need quickly. Short of dialing 911..I recommend that you make a list and have it handy. I am doing mine today.

Numbers to Have Handy in Your Cell Phone

Do you have ICE in your cell phone? A few years ago when I first heard this term, I had to ask what it meant. ICE stands for in case of emergency. Most people today know this term. There are a lot of phone numbers that you may not use all the time, but are very handy when you do need them, and there's no better way to keep them convenient, then to to have them in your cell phone. When a stressful, or hectic, situation comes up, it's really nice to know you don't have to search around to find a phone number.

Of course 911 is the number most called in emergency situations, but not all situations require a call to 911.  Below is a list of suggested phone numbers you might want to keep handy in your cell phone.

  • Numbers to Have Handy in Your Cell PhoneICE...In case of emergency. Some people put a space in front of this so it comes up first in their list of contacts.
  • Your car insurance agent, or claims number...you never know when an accident is going to happen, or something else outside of your control like a tree limb falling on your car. The same goes for your home insurance provider if you don't use the same company.
  • Towing service.
  • Your auto club if you belong to one.
  • Fire Department...there are a lot of reasons to have this number handy.
  • Police Department...Not all calls to the police are for an emergency.
  • The Highway Patrol.
  • Power Company...This might be handy to report an outage or other situation.
  • Water Department...This makes it easy to report a broken water main.
  • The local gas provider. This is very handy to have if you think you smell a gas leak.
  • Your local poison control center.
  • The local hospital or hospitals if you live in a larger area.
  • Your doctor.
  • Your work number.
  • The local animal control.
  • A trusted friend and/or neighbor.

This is just a list of suggested numbers. You can tailor your list to your own particular needs. I keep the number of my favorite pizza delivery place in my phone.

Another good idea is to have a hard copy of this list. You might even want to keep it somewhere in the house where anyone can find it so everyone has access to the numbers. If something happens to your cell phone, then you won't have to work too hard to rebuild the list.

I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 24 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
