There's a contest this month, which allowed me to dial a few people. I've got to write about this call to get points. I'll get to this in a moment.
Many/most didn't answer their phones, which means most people got several calls. I never left a message, figuring I'd dial until I got to speak with someone. That didn't fly with Sheila. After I'd made 2 attempts, I got a return phone call. She knew my name & number, and she left a message. That showed me...messages still work. When we finally got to speak, it was as if she's been my Facebook buddy for years since she knew a lot about me. More about this in a moment as well.
Surely, I'm only giving you one or two nuggets, and to know more about Sheila Anderson, check out her blog.
Of all the calls I made, Sheila was the only one who gently suggested I shouldn't be waiting for points in order to make calls. Surely I'd have come to this realization in the months and years to come, but Sheila distilled the truth to me within minutes. Perhaps this is what she learned when she was getting her Education degree in Wisconsin. Ergo, this isn't abuot points. To prove that to myself, and as this week got crazier, I stopped making calls....because when I make them in the next few weeks & months, then the person on the other end will realize I am calling because I just want to talk and listen, not because I want to get points.
