Osceola County has changed over the past few decades. The county was originally established as a rural area with a long history of agriculture and cattle farming. With the introduction of the Disney World parks, we became a great place to call home! People from all over the world began to look for homes for sale in Kissimmee FL and construction of new homes began to boom! To this day, because so many people have begun raising families here, Osceola County School District is the county’s largest employer followed by Walt Disney World as the second largest.
In Osceola, things may have changed but we do our best to remember how our county began and it’s that time of year again…the Osceola County Fair begins this Friday the 13th.
In 1940, long before we had quite so many homes for sale in Kissimmee FL, the Osceola County Fair & Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show informally began. It was hosted on the grounds of the Kissimmee Livestock Market. Over the next decade the livestock show grew and in 1951 it became incorporated formally the Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show and Fair Association.
Today there is still the 4H livestock fair, but the event has transformed into a veritable carnival, complete with rides, food and entertainment. Every year at the same time, the Silver Spurs Rodeo takes place nextdoor.

This year’s highlights include a Demolition Derby, a pie eating contest, a tractor pull, live music and more. The fair’s dates are from February 13-22—it opens at noon on the weekends and at 5 throughout the week. Come on down and enjoy the rides!
