1. Snow days are only fun the first and second time around. The first time we are dressed and armed with 3 shovels and 2 sleds as soon as the ground is covered. The second snow day we are not quite as enthusiastic and finish breakfast/thepaper/thegame before heading out ... by # 3 I'm just considering hiring somebody or bribing the neighbor.
2. Snow days make it very clear that we not only have a sock monster residing in our house but a mitten monster as well.
3. There is a silver lining. I'll have to arrange and pay for one less week of summer camp this year.
4. A snow day doesn't necessarily mean that it has snowed or it's going to snow anytime soon. Sometimes you are just left wondering if weather happened somewhere.
5. I grew up in Germany. There is no such thing as a snow day .. you make your way to school even if you have to take a sled. But we did get off during the summer because it was too hot (no air conditioning can be a blessing)
6. When it comes to business, snow days are just like vacations... the more snow days are called, the busier I get.
7. Snow days and freezing temps make the upper 40s feel like Spring. I expect to see people out in shorts this weekend.
8. Everybody knows that Maryland has 4 distinct seasons but only people who've lived here for some time realize that Spring and Fall are only about 6 weeks long, combined.
9. Snow days are great for teaching your kids how to make coffee and breakfast and do laundry.
10. At the end of the day, sledding down that hill with your wee ones is something I wouldn't want to miss out on in a million years.
P.S. Has it really been a month since I posted on my blog last?
I blinked once and March it is!
