Random thoughts about snow days and blinking once

A snow day in MD1. Snow days are only fun the first and second time around. The first time we are dressed and armed with 3 shovels and 2 sleds as soon as the ground is covered. The second snow day  we are not quite as enthusiastic and finish breakfast/thepaper/thegame before heading out ... by # 3 I'm just considering hiring somebody or bribing the neighbor.

2. Snow days make it very clear that we not only have a sock monster residing in our house but a mitten monster as well.

3. There is a silver lining. I'll have to arrange and pay for one less week of summer camp this year.

4. A snow day doesn't necessarily mean that it has snowed or it's going to snow anytime soon. Sometimes you are just left wondering if weather happened somewhere.

5. I grew up in Germany. There is no such thing as a snow day .. you make your way to school even if you have to take a sled. But we did get off during the summer because it was too hot (no air conditioning can be a blessing)

6. When it comes to business, snow days are just like vacations... the more snow days are called, the busier I get.

7. Snow days and freezing temps make the upper 40s feel like Spring. I expect to see people out in shorts this weekend.

8. Everybody knows that Maryland has 4 distinct seasons but only people who've lived here for some time realize that Spring and Fall are only about 6 weeks long, combined.

9. Snow days are great for teaching your kids how to make coffee and breakfast and do laundry.

10. At the end of the day, sledding down that hill with your wee ones is something I wouldn't want to miss out on in a million years.

A snow day in Maryland

P.S. Has it really been a month since I posted on my blog last?
I blinked once and March it is!

I've noticed an increase in business the snowier it gets as well.  Really tired of shoveling.

No snow days for us this winter (knock on wood), but we are about to get one more cold snap.

Great thoughts on Snow Days Andrea, we don't have many snow days around here but it is always nice when we do, because then my wife gets to work at my office.

Fun read, Andrea. I'm ready for sun-days and no more snow days. It is a mess around here.

Spring is around the corner Hannah!

Me, too, Chris Ann but it looks like this was our last round of shoveling?

This should be it Tammy!

You are used to it up there Bob and people don't freak out over a couple of snow flakes.

It will all be melted in a few days Mike! I am so looking forward to Spring.

It is nearly 40 degrees here today, and I am seeing folks in our neighborhood out without coats and wearing shorts while jogging.  The snow is melting, and we are looking forward to spring.

It hit 59 today and I noticed the joggers out in shorts. Love your winter description. Thinking about you and the girls!

Shorts and 40 degrees Ron? Brrr! That sounds cold to me but I guess when it's been in the teens for so long, 40 degrees can feel warm.

Thank you Margaret.. loving the first signs of Spring.

We've had a few nice days Silvia, I see the first flowers poking through and the snow is almost gone!
