Oddly-Shaped or Sized Rooms Look Better Staged!

By
Home Stager with Great Impressions Home Staging/Interiors

When buyers encounter strangely-shaped or unusually-sized rooms, they often can't figure out how to use or furnish those spaces. Staging overcomes those objections. Here are some examples of problem rooms that staging provided solutions to:

Long "bowling alley" spaces:

Sloped bedroom ceilings:

Although unfortunately I don't have a shot of this whole room, I placed a chair and side table on the far side by the windows :)

By the way, all 4 of these houses went to contract in less than 3 weeks in 2014.

The more you work to eliminate buyer question marks about how to use and furnish rooms, the faster the property will sell!

 "Great Impressions Get Offers"

Presentation and price are critical to selling houses quickly. You and your agent figure out the best price; I make your home stand out from the competition to appeal to the most buyers, whether they are first-time buyers, move-up buyers, or down-sizing buyers. As an accredited, experienced staging professional, I know how to make your home grab buyers' attention -- on the MLS and in person. A beautifully presented house makes a great impression, stands out from the competition, and generates offers faster than a non-staged house!

Nicely done.  I totally agree with your blog.

Since people buy on emotion it is necessary to stage them.

Exactly, Wendy -- people DO buy on emotion, and the goal of staging is to

1) eliminate problems as much as possible

2) showcase the good features (fireplaces, bay windows, great views, built-ins, etc.)

3) create an emotional connection and a higher-value lifestyle than buyers think they have or can get in their price range!

Thanks so much for your comment!

Great job Amy! The oddest shaped room I've encountered was a tiny L-shaped bedroom with the bottom corner missing (hard to envision). The room was totally weird, but, rather than have buyers wonder how to use the space, I put a sleeping area in one cozy wing and a little study area in the other.

That IS hard to envision, Janelle -- sounds like a real challenge! Glad you came up with what sounds like a good plan to help buyers see how to use that :) Would love to see a picture!

Thanks for commenting, too!
