I happened to be sitting across the table at a local restaurant known as the "Clam Bar" with one of the best real estate coaches in the business.  What did I expect we'd talk about?  The weather?  No, Roberta Ross, got right down to the nitty gritty with me and one of the questions she first asked was -

 

"Why social media?  Why did you choose that?"

 

Simple.  Direct. I can answer that, right?  That's an easy one for most.  Why do you do what you have chosen to do for a career?  I actually had to take a minute to think about it.  Sometimes I'm a bit too thoughtful with questions, but she's the "Six Figure Real Estate Coach" and I wanted to give her a truthful answer.

 

I told her it is because I am passionate about it.  If I'm not finding content for my clients' platforms then I'm listening to podcasts or googling social media tools or tips.  I'm recording screenshares for my classes.  I guess I enjoy it if I am drawn to it in my "spare time."  

 

"Why real estate?"

 

Another good question, but this one I knew right away.  I love real estate.  I love working with the real estate community.  When I worked for a solo practitioner years ago my favorite part of the job was his real estate work.  Yes, real estate is also my passion and therefore I married the two and formed a career.

 

"What value do you bring to your clients and I don't mean the number of posts.  What value?"

 

That was a mind shift for me because I always thought in terms of the number of platforms and posts. The value I bring to my clients is I'm very focused on finding content that they would put up themselves. I want people to hear the voice of my client when posting. That's my value.  I provide consistency and customization as far as the material being in their voice and hopefully, not mine.  That's what I strive to provide.

 

I met with Roberta for about 45 minutes and I feel it was a game changer for me.  I intend to really incorporate some of the things we spoke about into my marketing and website.

Her questions were to me James and I did answer them.  I thought I'd blog because if those questions helped me examine my business direction then maybe they'd help others.  She gives a lot more advice through the podcast I posted.  Have a great day James Dray

The main mind changing question she asked me was "What VALUE do you bring to your clients?"  That is the key in what sets you apart from others.  I think that's necessary when selling real estate too.  Thank you James for commenting.  I appreciate it!!
