Mother Nature once again delivered a beautiful day for the 2015 Violet Crown Festival, which supports community enhancements for Brentwood and Crestview Neighborhoods.  Our family walked over to Brentwood Elementary School mid morning just as the gates opened and found a party in full swing.  Children were playing, parents were shopping local artist and the first musical act was underway.

Only a few steps inside the gates and our son quickly dove into the spread of Legos provided by Snapology Austin.  There were detailed pieces for slightly older children and larger building blocks for young kiddos. There was plenty to go around and everyone was sharing and creating together.  At the same time my wife was participating in the Cake Walk with our daughter and left a big winner with homemade muffins!  It's the little things, right?!

Next, we worked on what might be our son's finest art creation yet!  An old bike was used to spin your choice of an old record or cd inside a metal cylinder.  We opted for the larger record target and let the little man pick out 4 or 5 of his favorite colors.  As the volunteer 'peddled' the bike, our record spun around allowing us to squeeze in the array of colors.  30 minutes later after drying we picked up his master piece with lots of compliments.

Of course we had to stop and speak with our friend and owner of Top Notch Burgers who was showing off some classic cars, including the signature Top Notch Truck that frequently strolls through the neighborhood (they also donated gift cards to the silent auction).  Since it was Dos de Mayo, The Most Interest Man in The World made a guest appearance.  My wife Erika needed a photo together.

Violet Crown Festival, just one of the many reasons we enjoy living, playing and working in this community.
