Yes, I Am Working Today
In the business of real estate we must take our down time when we can. San Jose and the surrounding bay area has been experiencing some very cool fall-like weather. I am just loving it.
Friday afternoon I just felt like doing nothing. I wanted to kick back and read a book and/or get a massage. I posted this on Facebook and much to my surprise, I was not alone.
Five people had either just had a massage or just booked a massage. Some said they read a book or were making chili (remember the cool fall-like weather).
Friday afternoon I saw a window of opportunity and I took it. I read for a few hours and got a massage.
Real estate is not 8-5 or 9-5. We don't clock in and clock out. I wonder if anybody actually does that anymore. I digress.
Today I am working. I'm showing property with my relocation clients and when we are done, I am taking them to a late lunch or early dinner.
Now I have to ask myself: Is that really working?
It does not feel like work to me. It feels like I am spending time with new friends looking at homes and enjoying a meal together.
I always let my clients know how grateful I am for who they are. I explain that they are why I do what I do. Real estate is a people business.
Clients choose to work with us. Thankfully, we have a choice too. When I read posts about agents working with difficult buyers and sellers, I cannot help but think, life is short. Let them go. There are far more amazing people to work with who appreciate what we do and are also grateful to have us working for them.
For me, working with toxic and negative people is not worth the energy I need to expend with them.
I'm feeling blessed today and extremely grateful to be working spending time with really nice people who appreciate all that I am doing to help them find their San Jose home.
Ah, and yes, we get to do this in very cool fall-like weather. How much better can this day get?
