My dear friend Robbin and I were discussing just what assignment we’d like to have when we get to heaven.   Without missing a beat, we both said, “I want to be in the stables, with the horses, shoveling horse poop for eternity!”   Now I know what you’re thinking… it does sound like a very glamorous position and people will be clamoring to be named for the job, but there is one drawback. Once you get hooked on the earthy smells, the peaceful sound of big warm beasts chomping on hay and the soft touch of horse lips on your hand when you give them yummy treats, hanging out with people will seem…well, less appealing.  But, in fairness, I am basing that on my earthly experience…it may be different there!

As a new realtor, who has a passion for all things equine, I can’t express how much I’m anticipating the first time I hear, “Well Lisa, I’m looking for horse property in Gilbert, can you help me with that?” The possibilities are endless!   They range from small properties to stable a horse or two for private use, to large income producing properties for commercial boarding and training.

Gilbert is horse friendly!   One of my favorite places to ride is the Gilbert Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch.  The endless canal trails make it easy to get there from where ever your horse is stabled and the wide, shaded pathways are a rider’s dream!  I particularly love riding in the Preserve during the cooler months, because it’s full of Canadian Geese enjoying a mild Arizona winter vacation!

For Arabian horse enthusiasts, the annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is a convenient 35 minute drive from Gilbert.  The riders and horses are a joy to behold, the food is delicious and the bling is everywhere you look!

I’m not in a huge hurry to get to my ultimate barn destination.  For now, I’m very happy to enjoy Horse Heaven, right here in Gilbert, Arizona!

Horses have such different personalites from one to the next. Now only if I wasn't severely allergic to them I'd desire to be around them more!

Lisa,

I really enjoyed your post.   I understand the love of horses, and how important they are to people.  I just read an article about a French vineyard that no long uses tractors to plow, instead they are using horses because they are much gentler on the vines roots than a tractor...Another client uses her horses as a form of therapy for abused women..I was touched by that.  A
