Some of the hiking spots near the lake are Beer Mountain Reservation, Sweetcake Mountain Preserve, Candlewood Mountain, Lakeside Trail, and Sunny Valley. Remember to walk only in designated trails and carry out any trash you carry in.

2. Fishing

Aside from attractive homes for sale in Candlewood Lake, this place is also considered as the best fishing hole in Connecticut. Fishing is a well-known sport and recreational activity in the area. There are two islands and several coves where you can fish off your boat or from the shore. The lake contains Largemouth Bass, Brown Bullhead, White Catfish, Calico Bass (Black Crappie), White Perch, Yellow Perch, Chain Pickerel, Sunfish, Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Smallmouth Bass.

Participants will be treated to excellent food, music, paddleboard demos, and a lot of merrymaking. The equipment will be provided and first timers are welcome to join this fun-filled event.

4. Boating

Having your own lakefront home in Candlewood Lake also entitles you to the 250 acre stream fed lake with more than six mile of scenic shoreline and mooring privileges. The lake can be accessed by using one of the two boat launch ramps. Among the boats that are usually seen on the lake are ski boats, pleasure boats, pontoon boats, fishing boats, paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, and row boats.
