Tuesday Treasure: Bird on a Ladder

My husband left his ladder on the back porch longer than he should have, and it didn't take long for this Mama Dove to take up residency. She has already raised two babies who flew off to live on their own, and she is now keeping some new babies warm in the nest.

We have enjoyed her presence on our porch immensely.

Maybe once these babies are grown, my husband will put the ladder away...

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

Aren't you glad hubby didn't put the ladder away, think of all the pleasure you've gotten out of helping MaMa dove keep her home.  Maybe when MaMa finally packs her nest up and flies south you could have hubby put up a shelf where the top of the ladder is so MaMa dove can raise her family there again next year, after all you are in the home finding business.

Joni Staples You are the queen of bird pictures. I am remembering that majestic bald eagle you photographed - awesome!

Will Hamm I think we are stuck with the ladder on the porch for a while!

John Crosby What a great idea! I know they like to return to the same location year after year. We do enjoy having her around!

Sheila Anderson I think doves can have up to three sets of babies in one season. The ladder might be there until the end of the summer.

Alan Kirkpatrick Have a great week, too, Alan!

I did not know this was your second go around with the doves on the ladder! Well I bet Charlie just left there just for this reason.
