Such A heated Debate

By

Every time another incident arises, the news stations converge and debates start up in regards to gun control.  Sure, everyone has an opinion, and it always amazes me that there is so much disparity with opinions.

The group for guns states many things such as protection and safety, hunting and recreation and more.  They state that it is a constitutional right to be able to have firearms, and that removing that right takes us from citizens to subjects.

On the other end we have those in favor of the gun control movement.  They of course state safety (funny that safety is on both sides of the argument).  The biggest take away I've found is that gun control would keep guns out of the hands of criminals which in turn makes communities safer.

So that is both sides, super easy, super simple.

WHO IS RIGHT?

Frankly, I don't know.  Yet, it does beg to question since we have had MANY incidents on a national level with guns, that maybe something is broken.  Maybe ATF (Alcohol, tabacco and Firearms) is not the best entity to over see who is buying, selling, and holding a gun in ownership.  I wonder, would having the NRA (national rifle association) or another such PRO GUN entity do a better job?  I just had this thought, that having something is a previledge.  Lack of exercising your previledge in a responsible way will end up with you losing that previledge.  This happens with our kids, and all kids across the country.  They get to exercise their right to do something, or use something, and continue to do so.  Yet, if they abuse the previledge or mis-use it, they lose it.

Of course now, we are all grown up and we no longer want to be accountable.  While I don't really have a problem with gun ownership, I do find it necessary to make sure folks are responsible gun owners.

Watching the news (with no sound) at this time and the head of the TV station is being questioned on live TV by reporters in regards to the latest shooting.  Questions looking in to what station did to try to make sure they have a safe work environment, did they give help to the shooter, .............etc.  All I can say, what a needless tragedy, stuff like this should not happen.  While this brings awareness to a problem, what a fear will happen again is a loss of the underlying problem as we lay blame to all else.

Sorry folks, this post may not make sense, just felt like writting about it.  In a way, I guess I'm just hopeful that some day, maybe today, everyone will start actually seeing what the problem is, and maybe just maybe, tro to fix the problem.

David Baker Realtor - Laveen Homes for sale The issue is not guns, it is one of mental illness and how society deals with those who do not belong on the streets. Mental health counselors need to be mandated to notify the authorities when they know a patient is a danger to themselves and society. Baker acting people is not enough. My only brother was murdered and not with a gun, but with a knife by a mentally deranged psychopath, and he was a cop!. http://www.odmp.org/officer/14830-investigator-michael-a-padula

Another day, another shooting.  Looks like we just had another college campus shooting, this one at Savannah State University.  A student was shot in killed during an altercation.

Another week another 2 shooting.  As stated on one of comments above, we must I guess have a LOT of mental illness issues.  Much like anything, it is not a simple answer.
