Pine Bush Outdoor Adventures Program

By

I have just participate in the Pine Bush School outdoor adventures program.   The Orange

Coun ty Federation was at the hight school this past week with their outdoor adventures program.  They had over 300 students throughout the Marksmanship and Firearm's Safety program.

If you have not heard of this program and have children in the high school you should inquiry about it.  It can be part of their gym requirements.

Several schools in the area have active shooting programs. Some of the schools have teams and/or offer classes or special activities as part of an Outdoor Adventure Program. Members of the Federation volunteer their time to help in these programs and the Federation helps by coordinating and supplying equipment used in these activities. The volunteers, many of them certified, help teaching a variety of subjects like fly tying, fishing, shooting air guns and gun safety.

It was a great learning experience for all.

Since guns seem to be a fact of life, it's good to have such programs.

Susan, in one way I'm surprised that they would have these programs considering all the school violence but then on the other-hand, it's important to learn safety and responsible marksmanship so hopefully they aren't teaching anyone who has alternative motive.

Susan - you know how they have those highway clean up crews? they go around cleaning highway litter. can you get these kids to do the same thing about the deer along the parkways? that would be productive:-)
