My reasons for leaving ActiveRain have, I think, been expressed in sufficient detail, at sufficient length.

Since stating them, I've spent more time rummaging around ActiveRain, questioning whether I had overstated my case. If anything, I understated it.

I've paid careful attention to the posts and comments that my post provoked.

I regretfully conclude that, as someone famously said about my home city of Chicago, ActiveRain ain't ready for reform.

There is, in my not so humble take, too little genuine concern about fair housing, and too little appreciation for the gravity of the issue.

There are some outstanding leaders here, but I don't see them being committed to solving the problems here. I'm sympathetic to the fact that people have other priorities.

I won't be posting further, or responding to any further comments.

And, based on everything I've seen, I won't be back.

Joe, I probably missed a bunch, was gone last week, so for what it's worth, I enjoyed your style and the debate it raised.

I did totally disagree with your statement "There is no place for religion whatsoever in real estate" at the beginning of the very active debate you started on the 14th.

See ya

Joe, I don't know if you'll stick around to read this, but Rome wasn't built in a day. You can't expect a platform of this size to change overnight just because of something one person wants to see change. It bothers me that you are obviously so passionate about these issues and the need to implement meaninful changes, and yet, you're not willing to stick around to help champion or effect those changes.

Joe, Just wanted to let you know I appreciate you bringing the subject of The Fair Housing Act up, I am one of the people you did educate on this and a few other things as well. Know this, there were some that you did get through to.

Joe,

I'm disappointed but I do understand. I hope you continue to "lurk" and look for an opportunity to return.  You've taught this place a valuable lesson (me included)

I blogged about you today, Joe.  Come and find it.  :o)  I don't even know if you remember me, but you were a big help to me when I first started blogging.  Thank you for that.

Joe:

Active rain is a free blog and your opportunity to promote whatever tasteful agenda you see fit.  I see that as a pretty good opportunity for you to write a series of articles on you passion for fair housing and develop a following that can help you further this agenda.

I took a brief look at your blogs and found articles like the "brain dead monkey" and am frankly surprised by the number of readers/respondents you have been receiving.

May I suggest you look deeper into yourself and analyze where the anger is coming from and use your blog going forward more constructively.

We have all had down periods - God knows including me.  The true measure of a person is the ability to persevere and ultimately prevail through them by remaining optimistic about the future and how they can help make the world a little better.

Speaking of being ready for reform, the governor of Illinois hasn't been setting a very good example recently...
