Is my Yountville, Napa Valley Water Bill Too High?

verbal bitchIn the course of events, one must choose the inequities in life they must deal with on a daily basis if one is to survive. Granted heat, a place out of the rain and a drop to drink are some of the essentials. Water and disposal of all my my crap right up there as being one of those absolute necessities one cannot live without.

Now let me explain my bitch. I just received my latest monthly water bill. In it I used a mere 2 Cons, meaning less than 2,000 gallons for my November usage. I spent about $3,500 last year and removed most of my lawn. See my bill below.

The actual water usage charge, $5.14. The rest, a total bunch of crap every Napa Valley city and town imposes,  $90.40 worth. My actual water usage percentage, 5.37% of the total $95.54 due. I wish I could change things but this the reality for the price of a glass of water these days.

Just my two cents worth.

Curtis,

Seems very expensive and the actual watrer as you said is not the main contribtor to the total bill amount.

This was after Yountville used to subsidize our water bills. In the last 5 years, they have gone up by about 100%. Drought or not, water is the next oil. cheers cvc

Curtis Van Carter I have to agree with you but you know those healthy California pensions aren't cheap. No wonder there are so many wine drinkers up your way!

Wow, Curtis.  This is a new extreme of additional charges.  And, I thought my cell phone bill additional charges were bad.

If you use a lot of water, the usage goes way up for it is tiered. If you think this is a lot, you should see some of the restaurant's here water bills. In the thousands. cheers cvc

That's from living in desert and keeping the lawn green. Throw in the pool, no doubts. I live in a Mediterranean climate with about 35 inches of rain each year. Maybe 800 sf of lawn, just me and everything else on drip. The summer bills go to about $130. No doubt things are much higher elsewhere but still, the amount of none water usage continues to grow and grow. I know way too long, cheers cvc
