There are actually many reasons why you want to live in Reno even if you're not a gambling. Reno offers entertainment, fine dining and so much more. When I say "Reno", what is the first word that comes to mind?  Gambling?  That's not a surprise.  What might be a surprise, though, is that our Reno community has evolved quite a bit in the last few years.  There are several reasons why you want to live in Reno...and it's not the gambling.

Why You Want to Live in Reno

Thanks to projects like the Tesla gigafactory, Nutrient Foods and Ghost Systems (just to name a few), EDAWN (the Economic Development Agency of Western Nevada) has projected that the Reno area can expect 50,000 new jobs over the next five years.  This translates to approximately 9000 new homes each year until then.  If you have construction experience and skills, Reno may be just the place for you right now.

Search Reno homes for saleIf you are single, the reason why you want to live in Reno is because WalletHub ranked it at #8 on its Top 10 Best Cities for Singles list in 2015.  WalletHub compared dining out costs, the variety of nightlife, prices for movies, online dating opportunities, low crime rate and amount of singles in each of the 150 most populated cities in the US.  That's is how Reno got to be in the top 10.

Another reason why you want to live in Reno is that Google has brought their Project Sunroof tool to the Reno area.  All you have to do is enter your home address and Project Sunroof will let you know whether or not your home is in a good place to utilize solar panels to reduce your home's energy costs.  The tool uses information from Google Earth and cross-references their data on sun exposure in your neighborhood as well as energy prices.  Before you invest in solar panels, you can find out whether it will be a cost benefit to you.  This tool isn't available everywhere.

If you enjoy the sounds of the city, you can find a place to live there.  However, if you prefer peace and quiet away from the bustling din, there are plenty of locations outside the louder areas for you to choose from.  RentLingo can help you find the perfect place for you.

The final reason why you want to live in Reno is that it is very LGBT-friendly.  According to the Human Rights Campaign, of the eight cities it surveyed in Nevada, Reno came in 4th with a score of 75 out of 100.  The US average was 56.  Only Las Vegas, Paradise and Enterprise received higher scores.
