A few days have passed. Maybe the title of this post should be "A Brokers Week in Real Estate and Property Management."

Staffing has been an issue this week. Add one, lose one. The loss was an investment of one month of training and time. That hurts, and I will never get that back. Fifteen minutes after I said goodbye, a new hire walked in with the energy that sparked my flame and forget about what happen previously.

The assistant that walked away was on the verge of taking over some of the marketing tasks that I have had to do. That would have helped. So, I spend this morning creating virtual tours, Youtube videos, and fliers for the last two listings that were added this week.

I think the assistant took exception to the job when we entered one of our bank owned properties on Dirty ToiletWednesday. You see, the home was winterized, the water is turned off and the lines are drained. This is done to protect the plumbing in winter to keep the pipes from bursting. Well, as we entered the house there as an odor, one that didn't exist when I originally inspected the property just four days prior. I knew the smell as I have experienced this phenomenon before. So I started to inspect the toilets, and low and behold I found the present left behind, and without a bow being so close to Christmas. The usual standard procedure is to go to the meter and turn on the water enough to fill the water cabinets on the toilets. Then flush. No luck, the water company had removed the meter as the foreclosed owner must have been stealing water so there wasn't a way to get the water to flow. So, being resourceful, I began knocking on doors to secure a bucket to use to flush the toilet and remove the smell by getting water from the home next door. It seems the culprit, the only other person that entered the home was the property preservation company hired by the bank. They were there securing the property before I was assigned the asset.

The assistant never left the porch. I will miss her, she was very talented in other areas.

Being a Broker in Real Estate and Property Management is a dirty business.
