How Does a Listing Agent Prep for a Blizzard?
When you are a listing agent and have vacant listings, it's always a good idea to check in on your properties before severe weather. Since we are expecting wind gusts of 55 mph with the blizzard, I made sure to stop by all of my listings and remove sign riders. Decided possible projectiles with my name and number weren't the publicity I would want. I popped inside to make sure the heat was on and lights were off in my vacant homes. And in some cases, I found the scene too pretty to pass up without a photo of a snowy listing.
There's a neighborhood kid who does snow shoveling. I'm contracting with him to get these homes dug out so that buyers and agents that tour them after the storm are not inconvenienced.
And naturally, after the storm, I'll drive back by and see if there was any damage to the home or surrounding property. Downed trees might be an issue with the wind. I'm the eyes and ears of the sellers who have already relocated and trusted their listing to me. The sooner they know of an issue, the sooner they can get on it with repairmen and insurance companies.
Of course, I'll be praying that they all make it out of the storm with nothing more than two feet of snow in the yard.
