How Are 2016 Home Sales Doing?
Real estate market data for Marysville, OH provided by Jim West of Keller Williams Capital Partners.
Some of the housing headlines seem to be causing some concern from some of the consumers who are in the process of selling or buying a home in today's market. Pundits are concerned over the lack of new construction or month over month of home sales numbers in general. Let's take a look at the tape measure and set the record straight. 2015 was the best sales year ever for residential real estate here in Marysville Ohio and 2016 currently has mixed reviews.
Here is a graph of total home sales (new construction and existing home sales) in the first two months of 2016 compared to record breaking 2015.
Will This Momentum Continue?
The best way to speculate if this trend will continue is to look at the overall foot traffic in today's market place. This foot traffic is tracked by the National Association of Realtors. This is the total number of purchasers out looking for a home and we can see that spring home shoppers are out earlier than normal due to the warm seasonal weather here in central Ohio and all factors point to us having the best spring selling season in over a decade.
Bottom Line!
The 2016 housing market started out well and looks to be gaining steam. However, if we do not get more home owners putting their homes on the market and increase our inventory our sales may start to drop off. If you are looking of buying or selling a home, now may be a
great time.
