Thats a great post, thanks for it.
I'll say that we as a country have lost that kindness, lost those kind eyes. In fact its even possible to look down on kindness with distain and ridicule.
A long distance trucker recently posted a clip from his dash cam while away in his work. It shows him coming upon a motorcyclist whose machine broke down in the middle of the freeway. He stopped his rig behind it and, using the truck as a shield, slowly moved across lanes to the right shoulder so that the motorcyclist could roll the bike across the busy freeway. Safely on the shoulder now, they parted ways.
For this, the trucker received an avalanche of criticism and accusations of causing jams, endangering lives, creating driver confusion and mayhem and that he should be ticketed by the Highway Patrol.
I was saddend by this response and added my own reply, to thank god for old-school people like him, caring, kind people with manners and good parents. I cheered him on, as did the motorcycling community. This is the America I grew up in--and still love.
Of course, he didnt have to help, didnt need to lift a finger, could just drive around and go on and who would care? But some people are driven to kindness by something internal and they cant escape it. Others have long forgotten what kindness and manners are and Im not sure much can be taught to them.
I just say this, to encompass a lot:
If not you, WHO?
If not now, WHEN?
I totally agree, kindness and manners are disappearing
Good morning Alberto. This is a great story and I wish you had enumerated on your own feeling.
