Tip to Get Callers to Send a Message and Not Just Hang Up

If you can't take a call because you are on the other line or with a client or it is simply inconvenient, you can still respond by using your Respond with Text message feature in your iPhone. These instruction are for iPhone users and sorry Droid users but I am sure you have a similar feature you may want to look up.

I have found that callers generally will not leave a message but will text me if they know I have my phone with me and just can't answer my phone at the moment. This has saved me losing new leads and earned me new business. Even if I am with a client I can discreetly push one of my preset text responses to let the caller know I am on the other end of the line and want to hear from them.

Here's how it works. Go to Settings then Phone. Click on Phone and then select Respond with Text. This is where you can choose what to say and customize your messages. First make sure your messages are saying what you want to say. You have 3 text messages you can formulate and I choose to make mine short and to the point.

The next time you are unable to take a call hit the button to respond with a text message. My first message is the one I use the most. I ask the caller to text me because I realize they will probably never listen to my voicemail and hang up before it starts. But they will send a text as soon as they get the preset response I send them. It really saves me time and wondering what the call was all about. Then I can see if I need to excuse myself for a minute and handle it or send a quick text back to let them know I am on it. In this business we need all the time saving tips we can get.

Try different messages to see what works for your style. These work 99% of the time for me and my situations. Feel free to use my presets if you like. Regardless don't let this feature go unused. It will help you handle your business better and your clients will like it too because you are responding immediately to there call.
