If you have been wondering why all the motorcade practice is going on in Honolulu as of late there is a huge event at the Hawaiian Convention Center coming up that will draw thousands of global participants including President Obama and other Heads of State and officiants.
The 2016 IUCN World Conservation Congress Forum is held every four years and is one of the most important global conservation conferences worldwide. The Hawai‘i Conservation Alliance is hosting a special event called He Pūko‘a Kani ‘Āina on August 30.
HPK‘Ā is a creative speaking experience featuring youth and cultural performances, a locally sourced food tasting reception, and a youth-focused kick-off to the 2016 IUCN World Conservation Congress.
He Pūko‘a Kani ‘Āina, is an ‘ōlelo no‘eau that means a coral reef that becomes an island over time, and can also signify someone growing in a positive way until they become established.
Hele mai and connect youth voices from across the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands through storytelling, spoken word poetry, and songs that reflect unique experiences in biocultural conservation.
