If you’re looking for something fun to do outdoors over Labor Day weekend you won’t want to miss the annual Festival of Sail, sponsored by the San Diego Maritime Museum.
This is the largest tall ship festival on the west coast and features something for everyone! The event gets started on Friday, September 2 at 10:45 a.m. with the Parade of Sails. Watch from various vantage points as the tall ships sail throughout San Diego Bay. Or, for a very special experience, 4 of the ships will be taking passengers to see up close what’s involved in sailing these old ships.
The Festival itself will run September 3 - 5, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the North Embarcadero. Your one-day pass will let you visit the museum, the participating ships, a kid’s zone, demonstrations, vendors, beer gardens and more.
The Festival will also offer several different cruising opportunities including a ride around the bay on the country’s oldest pilot boat, a canon battle, mid-day sails on a classic sailboat, a swift boat cruise and a twilight sail.
For more information or to buy tickets for the festival or any of the special cruising events please visit the Festival of Sail website.
The Festival of Sail is just one of the many events we enjoy here in San Diego. If you’re ready to call America’s Finest City home, just give me a call and I’ll be happy to help you find your perfect home.
