Did you know that on February 21, 1887, Oregon was the first state to pass a law recognizing Labor Day as a holiday? Four more states followed that same year, and by June 28, 1894 the U.S. Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September the annual legal Labor Day holiday.
Labor Day honors the achievements of the American worker and the contributions they have made to the success of our industry, strength, and prosperity.
Today, Labor Day is not only a day to recognize American workers, but it’s also a weekend for family and friends to mark the end of summer. Parades, picnics, camping, and BBQs are many of the favorite activities for observing the holiday.
